I was just visiting on a current quest to find the name of a few old games I vaguely remember. None of them were in your list (not your fault, I totally forgive you) but I just had to comment and say, I LOVED JONES IN THE FAST LANE. I’ve even got it on my PC at the moment. It was and still is an awesome game.

I never played UFO: Enemy Unknown myself but those who did speak about it in hushed tones. And Police Quest 1 I remember, but I was more into the Kings Quest and Space Quest series.

Nostalgia FTW indeed. I remember California Games, Wolfenstein and Civilization fondly… While these might not be “forgotten”, you left out UFO: Enemy Unknown (the greatest game ever made) and Police Quest 1…

@ Cybadave So surprised and stoked that you remember Jones in the Fast Lane, even if you didn’t get to play it.

@ Jackie, I would never forget Tetris, and former blog posts of mine have included a profile on Tetris inventor Alexey Pajitnov and a plug for addictive site Tetrisfriends.com (check it out). It’s just that I kept playing Tetris through the years, so it never became nostalgic for me.

@ Craig Hells yeah, I remember all of those except Syndicate. Day of the Tentacle had great cartoon graphics and a quirky sense of humour. Ultima Underworld was that dark rpg – i think a lot of rpgs have been based on it. And Carmen Sandiego is almost forgotten, thanks for reminding me.

TETRIS! you forgot tetris!

and i banned my son from playing wolfenstein, because it was too violent!

and i also played king’s quest. it was much like leisure suit larry (that i also played), but ‘cleaner’.

the first big game played on a huge level in our house was age of empires. i mean the first edition…

i’m old… *sigh*

I never managed to get Jones in the fast lane to work on my P.C. but I remember it. Played the rest of these though. It’s nice to see a list of old games that applies to S.A. 70’s kids for a change
